Back from the weekend to whip you all into shape for the work week that lies ahead. We here at Nacho Donut would like to thank all of you who have made us the #1 blog in the world. It’s a fact, look it up (please don’t look it up just take my word for it). While you were dreaming of creamy nacho cheese and the sweet smell of donuts, this is what was happening here on good ol’ Mother Earth:
- Ho ho ho and a bottle of Milwaukee’s WORST! Zinger! LeBron James and the Cavaliers beat the Milwaukee Bucks 111-103 Friday night in Milwaukee. In a performance reminiscent of his 2007 Game 5 dismantling of Detroit, LeBron went off for a beastly 24 points in the third quarter, including 16 points in a 2:50 span. The Cavaliers followed up Friday night’s victory with a Sunday night beat down of the Detroit Pistons in Cleveland, welcoming back Delonte West in the process. West scored 25 points and made all five of his 3-point attempts as the Cavs coasted to a 99-78 triumph. It felt good to have the starting line up back-the rest of the league is peeing on its respective leg right now.
- The Academy Awards were held Sunday night in Los Angeles. Slumdog Millionaire took home Best Picture, Best Director for Danny Boyle, and six other awards. The Oscar for Best Actor went to Sean Penn for Milk, Best Actress to Kate Winslet for The Reader, Best Supporting Actor to Heath Ledger for The Dark Knight, and Best Supporting Actress to Penelope Cruz for Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The rest of the winners can be viewed here.
- The Republican governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal, appeared on Meet the Press this past Sunday for an intriguing conversation on the economic stimulus package and the state of the economy, as well as the Republican party. A complete transcript of the show, which also featured one of my favorite voices from NPR, Michele Norris. An excellent episode and a good read if you missed it.
- Kelly Pavlik, the pride of Youngstown, Ohio retained his world middleweight title and moved his record to 35-1 with a ninth round TKO of Marco Antonio Rubio. Go Ohio!
- Found the Crystal Stilts’ Alight of Night in the $5 bin at the record store. Call me Sherlock effin’ Holmes, but please wait until after 9pm when my free minutes kick in.
Getting Delonte back with no rust is fantastic! Go CAVS!
Yeah, Delonte looked like he never missed a game. When the Cavs are healthy, we’re a force to be reckoned with.
